Six Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel were martyred and four others injured while thwarting an attempt by terrorists to capture a security post in Peshawar’s Hassan Khel area, security sources said on Tuesday. Eight attackers were killed in the retaliatory operation as security forces continued clearance operations in the area.
According to reports, three FC personnel were taken hostage during the attack. In the ensuing exchange of fire, FC personnel successfully foiled the assault and killed eight terrorists in a retaliatory operation.
Reports further said that additional security forces were deployed to the area and established a cordon around the site. Clearance and counterterrorism operations remained underway at the time of reporting.
The incident comes amid a broader surge in militant violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). On Sunday, the military announced that 27 Pakistani Taliban militants had been killed in multiple intelligence-based operations across the province.
KP, which shares a border with Afghanistan, has witnessed a sharp increase in attacks in recent months, with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant groups frequently targeting security personnel, convoys, and checkpoints.
