ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has informed the made in Pakistan drones will not only be used in the agricultural sector but could be used for the improvement of the security system in the country.
During his visit to the production unit of ABM SATUMA, a drones-manufacturing company, the minister said the newly developed drones will not only be used in the agricultural sector but for patrolling and monitoring propose.
He further said, “There is a lot of scope for drones in the agricultural sector whether it is for seeding, monitoring or spraying”. “All the fundamentals of agricultural have now been taken over by drones, so it was necessary for the country to manufacture these drones, and this will change the farming system in Pakistan,” Fawad added.
Fawad Chaudhry said another benefit of this technology is for law enforcement agencies and revealed that he is in talks with the motorway authority and relevant ministries in this matter.
He informed that Pakistan will shift the motorway surveillance to drones, “This will reduce a lot of costs as drones are now capable to stay on the air for longer periods, and can monitor the areas. We will also want to provide these drones to the Islamabad police.”
Earlier, an MoU was recently signed between the Ministry of Science and Technology and ABM SATSUMA. Pakistan on Tuesday unveiled locally developed drones to fight the locust attack threatening food security.
Pakistan-made “drones will revolutionize the country’s agriculture industry”, Federal Minister for Science & Technology Fawad Chaudhry said, sharing the photo of drones on Twitter.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Ministry of Science and Technology signed an agreement with a private company, ABM-SATSUMA, for the production and agriculture application of the drones to deal with the locust crisis. The drones would be handed over to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
