KARAK: At least four terrorists belonging to the Commander Zahid group were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted jointly by Karak Police and Kohat Police near Khattak Dam on the Karak-Kohat border, District Police Officer (DPO) Karak Imran Chitrali confirmed Thursday.
According to DPO Chitrali, the operation was launched following credible intelligence about the presence of militants in the area. During the raid, terrorists opened fire on the police party, prompting a strong retaliatory response. In the ensuing exchange of heavy fire, four militants were killed.
The DPO stated that the slain terrorists were involved in multiple attacks on law enforcement personnel. The group was linked to the killing of SHO Bhanda Umar Nawaz of Karak and Inspector Tahir Nawaz of Kohat in 2025, as well as the martyrdom of DSP Asad Mehmood, Sub-Inspector Anar Gul, and other police officers and personnel in 2026.
“Further details regarding the identification of the deceased terrorists and their criminal records are being collected,” DPO Chitrali said.
Following reports of the incident, DPO Karak and SP Saddar Kohat Ehsan Shah reached the site and are supervising the ongoing search operation in the area.
DPO Chitrali reaffirmed that police operations against terrorism and miscreant elements will continue with full force.
