BHAKKAR: At least three labourers, who were on their way home to celebrate Eid with their families, were killed in a horrific road accident that took place on Thursday. As many as 21 people were also critically injured in the accident that occurred on the Bhakkar-Jhang Road in Bhakkar.
The incident is being reported as the worst ever recorded in Bhakkar’s history.
According to the details gathered by MM News, a Toyota Hilux collided with a Shehzore loader van, resulting in the fatalities and injuries. The Hilux was travelling from Shorkot to Lakki Marwat when the accident occurred.
As soon as the traffic police and Rescue 1122 officials were informed about the incident, they immediately rushed to the site and started the rescue operation. The injured were shifted to the Bhakkar District Headquarters Hospital, where an emergency was declared by the authorities.
A rescue official stated that the deceased had been identified as Ghulam Abbas, a retired Army employee and resident of Sarai-e-Muhajir. The injured are receiving treatment at the hospital and are said to be in critical condition.
The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, but the police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the reason behind the collision. The incident has left the local community in shock and mourning, and the families of the deceased and injured are devastated as everyone there was preparing to receive their loves ones for Eid.
