ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) special flight from Istanbul carrying 194 Pakistani nationals who were stuck in Istanbul Airport has landed in Islamabad on Friday.
Earlier, a total of 194 Pakistani citizens were stuck in Istanbul due to suspension of flight operations and lockdowns aimed to limit the spread of coronavirus.
A special PIA flight PK-786 was then used to bring back the passengers to Pakistan. According to the airport authorities, the passengers were properly screened on their arrival at the airport.
Meanwhile, PIA’s spokesman in a statement said on the direction of high-ups after the screening of the passengers, they will be kept under observation in PIA quarantine center for a period of 24 hours.
Earlier, these passengers have appealed to the government of Pakistan to bring them back to the country immediately as they were running out of food and money.
These stranded passengers were staying in a hotel near the Istanbul Airport and have been facing difficulties due to the prolonged stay. The Pakistani passengers include elderly men, women, and children who were also facing medical difficulties.
