In a horrific incident, a young mother of two was gang-raped in a passenger van within the jurisdiction of Rawat Police Station in Rawalpindi.
According to the FIR, the 19-year-old mother of two was traveling from Chak Belly Mor to Rawat Bazaar to buy clothes. After she boarded the van, the driver, Sultan, diverted the vehicle back towards Chak Belly.
The incident occurred before Ramadan. When the victim raised an alarm, the conductor restrained her. The accused, Sultan, picked up another man near Chak Belly Mor. They drove the van to Bagashikhan, where they attempted to forcefully take the victim into a house.
When she resisted, Aqeel covered her mouth with a cloth. The accused continued driving around the streets of Bagashikhan village and gang-raped her inside the vehicle. After raping her twice, they dropped her back at Chak Belly Mor at 4:30 p.m.
The perpetrators also recorded videos and took photos during the assault. Days later, Sultan threatened the victim over the phone, warning that if she spoke out, the videos would be leaked on social media.
The victim confided in her husband, but he advised her to remain silent. Police confirmed that the incident took place before Ramadan. Local elders held a jirga to suppress the matter, which delayed reporting to the authorities.
The victim is now undergoing medical examination, and police have stated that the investigation will proceed based on available evidence.
