ISLAMABAD: More than 178,000 Hajj applications have been registered through the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ online Hajj portal during the first 10 days of the registration process, the ministry said the other day.
In a statement issued here the other day, the ministry said the online portal and the Pak Hajj mobile application were introduced as part of efforts to digitise Hajj arrangements, allowing intending pilgrims to complete the registration process remotely.
According to the ministry, over 178,000 applicants completed their registration during the first 10 days without requiring in-person visits to government offices.
The ministry said it was also finalizing the next phase of the initiative, which would enable pilgrims to pay Hajj dues through the online portal and the Pak Hajj mobile application.
It said the digital payment system, being developed in collaboration with OneLink, would allow applicants to complete the registration and payment process electronically, reducing the need to visit banks or ministry offices.
The ministry added that the system was also expected to facilitate overseas Pakistanis by enabling them to register for Hajj, track their application status and pay Hajj dues online from abroad.
The government has increasingly expanded the use of digital platforms in the administration of Hajj in recent years as part of broader efforts to modernize public service delivery.
