HYDERABAD: As many as 15 more HIV new positive cases were surfaced during a recent screening of the patients in Hyderabad on Sunday.
According to sources, the new HIV cases were dictated during the screening of around 900 villagers in more than nine villages from 20 to 26 December-2019.
The number of HIV positive cases in Hyderabad (rural) taluka has crossed to 214 with in addition to 15 new cases.
It is worth to mention here during blood screening by Peoples Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) 140 confirmed HIV positive cases, were earlier dictated in Hatri area of Hyderabad over the past year.
However, Sindh government health officials appear not to have taken the issue gravely. In union councils of Massu Bhurgari and Hatri of Hyderabad (rural) taluka were declared most affected areas.
PPHI sources revealed the patients were among age groups ranging from one-month-old to 61-year-old villagers, adding that some women are also affected by HIV positive cases.
Sources said the screening test started after a doctor suspected two cases in the area and reported them to the concerned officials. The number of HIV positive cases increased to 58 during laboratory tests later confirmed them from June to December 2018. Larkana district of Sindh remained in the headlines since April after surfacing of a large number of HIV positive cases.
