OKARA: At least people lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Okara city of Punjab on late Monday night, police and hospital officials said.
According to details, eight people, including four women and four children, were killed when the roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rain. The bodies were later shifted to District headquarter (DHQ) hospital.
In addition to this, two people were killed in two separate wind and rain-related incidents. Rescue sources said 40-year-old Sohail and 50-year-old Ahmad Ali were killed when a tree fell in Kachehri Bazaar, Okara and a wall collapsed in Haveli Lakha.
Rain also fell in Sheikhupura, Pakpattan, Kasur, Nankana Sahib and Chunian. The power supply was suspended in several areas of the LESCO region due to wind and rain.
Fires erupted in more than eight places in Manchanabad because of lightning. Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar has imposed an emergency at all hospitals. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain with heavy winds in Lahore and neighbouring cities in the next 12 hours.
