NEW YORK: Google services including YouTube, Google Meet, Hangouts, Google Maps, Google Calendar, the chatty AI, Google Sheets, and Gmail were restored after a global outage.
The services had faced an outage for nearly an-hour-and-a-half-ago and were inaccessible to users; however, Google has said that they have been restored. The huge global outage has caused havoc for workers across the world – with YouTube fans also left fuming by the network issues and problems.
“We will continue to work towards restoring service for the remaining affected users. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better,” a message on the Google Workspace Status Dashboard said.
However, it is still not clear why the services were inaccessible. Reports were mounting on Twitter as users can’t access its basic services, with Gmail and the hashtag “#YouTubeDOWN” starting to trend.
According to DownDetector, the issues started at around 11:56 GMT, and were affecting users worldwide. YouTube was greeting users with an ‘Oops’ message.
Meanwhile, Gmail has also become inaccessible for Pakistani users. “We’re sorry, but your account is temporarily unavailable. We apologise for the inconvenience and suggest trying again in a few minutes. You can view the G Suite Status Dashboard for the current status of the service,” the message from the site reads.
