World’s leading social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has officially announced the discontinuation of its Creator Revenue Sharing Program, effective September 7, 2026.
The platform will replace it with a new initiative called the Original Content Rewards Program, aimed at better compensating creators who produce authentic and original material.
According to the official statement from X’s Creators account (@XCreators), no new enrollments into the existing Revenue Sharing Program will be accepted.

Creators currently enrolled will continue to earn under the current system through September 7, 2026. They will receive scheduled payouts on August 14 and August 28, followed by a final payout covering earnings accrued up to September 7, expected around September 11, 2026.
Beginning September 8, 2026, eligible existing participants will be able to apply for the new Original Content Rewards Program. Access will be rolled out gradually.
Official announcement says creators can check their eligibility at any time through Creator Studio under the “Original Content Rewards” section. Those who have already completed identity verification and linked a valid payout method will generally not need to repeat those steps.
The new program is designed to reward original content—posts that feature a creator’s own ideas, expertise, reporting, creativity, unique experiences, or meaningful commentary.
Simple reposts, reuploads, lightly edited material, or aggregated content will typically not qualify for earnings. Payouts will be based primarily on qualified impressions from Premium users viewing content on the Home Timeline.
X stated that the change seeks to better align incentives with the creators who make the platform valuable on a daily basis, shifting focus toward authentic contributions rather than content optimized primarily for engagement metrics.
