X services in Pakistan are encountering ongoing disruptions, with another outage reported on Sunday afternoon, shortly after a brief restoration.
This recurrence follows the initial outage that commenced on Saturday night and persisted until 11 a.m. on Sunday. Despite being restored at 11 a.m., the services once again experienced downtime across the country just two hours later.
In a previous incident, the popular social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, successfully restored its services in Pakistan after a prolonged outage lasting over 12 hours. The disruption, which began at 9 p.m. on Saturday and continued until 11 a.m. on Sunday, caused inconvenience for millions of users. Users reported difficulties accessing tweets and new posts, with Downdetector.pk recording at least 185 outage reports by 9:01 p.m., escalating to 239 by 9:24 p.m.
Cybersecurity watchdog NetBlocks confirmed the shutdown of X in Pakistan, adding to a series of recent internet service disruptions in the country. The situation is particularly notable amidst the ongoing 2024 general elections, where various services have been affected. X had previously experienced a global outage in May 2023, prompting widespread complaints from users worldwide. The recent disruption in Pakistan underscores the importance of reliable internet services, especially during critical events like elections.
