ISLAMABAD: Speaker of National Assembly Asad Qaiser has regretted the unpleasant incident that took place yesterday with the parliamentarians outside the parliament lodges.
In a statement on Sunday, the Speaker said a strict probe will be conducted over the unpleasant incident outside parliament lodges through agencies to ascertain culprits involved in the incident.
The National Assembly speaker also emphasized the need for promoting the culture of patience and tolerance in politics. He assured to hold an inquiry into the incident. He however said that the political leadership will have to play its role to curb such incidents.
Asad Qaiser said that the members of parliament are elected representatives and everybody must respect them. It is worth mentioning here that a shoe was hurled at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal outside Parliament House on Saturday.
PML-N leaders Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Musadik Malik also grappled with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers. The incident occurred after PTI workers raised slogans during the press conference of the PML-N leaders. The incumbent government’s supporters chanted slogans and displayed placards in favor of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
PML-N spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb slammed the PTI workers for the incident. She questioned the Interior Minister who claimed that no one could reach the Parliament House. “The lions of the PML-N have chased the PTI thugs,” she said.
Speaking to the media, Musaddiq Malik said that this is a state where a woman’s dignity is not safe. He claimed that Maryam Aurangzeb was abused during the incident. The PTI workers had gathered at D-Chowk to exhibit support to Prime Minister Imran Khan after the premier announced to take a vote of confidence from the National Assembly (NA).
