KARACHI: Wholesalers Grocers Association has announced a strike tomorrow against heavy fines by the administration in Karachi.
President Karachi Wholesalers Grocers Association Abdul Rauf Ibrahim said that all wholesale markets including Jodia Bazaar will remain closed tomorrow against the fines imposed illegally.
Abdul Rauf further said, “The rate list has not been given since 2018, now fines are being levied which is a total injustice. The commissioner had appealed to all departments including Karachi for the rate list,” he added.
President Karachi Wholesalers Grocers Association said that fines were imposed on several shops in Jodia Bazaar and it was decided to close all wholesale markets in protest.
On Monday, Commissioner Karachi said every officer must check the display of the electric price board, display of price cards on every shop across the city. It is also mandatory for every officer to ensure availability and best standard of every product in Ramazan Bazars, he said.
Agriculture Fair Price Shops, chicken, meat, sugar, flour and ghee & cooking oil and availability of all subsidized items must be checked strictly, he said.
