Odisha Health Minister Naba Kisore Das died hours after he was shot by an assistant sub-inspector near Gandhi Chowk near Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district on Sunday.
The incident occurred when the minister stepped out of his vehicle to attend a program in Brajarajnagar in the Jharsuguda district.

Naba Das
Naba Das was a prominent member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which was in power under Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Das, an attorney by trade, entered politics in 2009 after joining the Indian National Congress.
The minister from Jharsuguda in Odisha ran for office in the Congress party till 2019, at which point he converted to the BJD. On May 29, 2019, he was named the country’s health minister, and he has held the job ever since. His wife Minati Das, one son, and one daughter all predeceased him.
Notably, the Minister was famous for his gracious donations and was recently in the headlines for donating gold and silver pitchers worth over Rs 1 crore to the Shani Shingnapur temple in Maharashtra earlier this month.
