Major General Faisal Naseer is the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director General, Counter Intelligence.
In 1992, Faisal Naseer enlisted in the Pakistani Army. He was promoted to major general in October, from brigadier general. Due to his work in Sindh and Balochistan, Faisal Naseer earned the moniker “Super Spy”. Last year, Maj. Gen. Faisal was appointed DG(C), the ISI’s de facto assistant for areas relating to internal security and counterintelligence. Second only to his DG ISI, he is currently the highest-ranking officer in the Pakistani military intelligence service.
During his tenure as a Brigadier in 2018, he was conferred with the Tamgha-i-Basalat, a distinguished service decoration. In July 2022, he was promoted to the rank of Major General.
Prior to this, Major General Faisal worked for UN peacekeeping missions in Sudan, the Congo, and Sierra Leone. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the UN Medal for Peacekeeping. In Balochistan, Faisal Naseer was appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of an infantry division that year.
He successfully led several operations in the province against terrorist organisations while serving there, earning widespread praise for his leadership and tactical acumen. 2018 saw the promotion of Faisal Naseer to Major General and his appointment as Director-General of the Strategic Plans Division (SPD) of the Pakistani Army.
Pakistan’s nuclear assets are managed and protected by the SPD. As SPD leader, Faisal Naseer played a crucial role in enhancing Pakistan’s nuclear deterrence capabilities. He was in charge of creating new nuclear weapon systems like the Babur-3 submarine-launched cruise missile and the Ababeel ballistic missile.
In acknowledgment of his contributions, Major General Faisal Naseer has been awarded a number of prestigious medals and accolades, including the United States Legion of Merit, the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, and the Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military). The reputation of Major General Faisal Naseer for his commitment, competence, and devotion to duty is well-known. He is highly regarded as one of the most capable and talented military leaders in the Pakistan Army.
