Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, WWE superstar turned famous Hollywood actor has caused a stir on social media with rumours of running for the US presidency.
Dwayne Johnson revealed on Trevor Noah’s new Spotify podcast “What Now?” (via Insider) that several political parties approached him in 2022 to ask if he would run for president. The actor had floated the idea in past interviews, although he said in October 2022 that his responsibilities as a father would prevent him from actually running for office.
Moreover, in a 2021 New York Times survey, a whopping 46 percent of Americans cast their vote for Dwayne if he threw his hat into the presidential ring.
Talking about the poll results, the Hobs And Shaw actor said, “The poll was very interesting. I was really moved by that. And I was really, uh, blown away. I was really honored.” The Jumanji star spilled the beans that political parties came knocking at his door in late 2022, fueled by the staggering support indicated in the survey. “It was a big deal, and it came out of the blue,” he added.
When pressed by the witty host about the possibility of running for president, Dwayne responded, “My goal has never been to be in politics. Matter of fact, there are a lot of things about politics that I hate.” However, in a twist that keeps us on the edge of our seats, he hinted at a potential change of heart, stating, “I would reconsider the decision regarding running for the president’s office if people are really passionate about my candidacy.”
On the work front, The Rock will star in an upcoming action-adventure comedy and a Christmas movie. Scheduled to release this Christmas, the movie also stars Chris Evans.
