ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has predicted rain with strong winds and thunder in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, South Punjab, and Upper Sindh during the next 24 hours.
The weather is likely to remain partly cloudy with gusty winds, and thundershowers at a few places over Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and adjoining hilly areas. The PMD has warned that heavy rains may cause river flooding in Balochistan.
There is also a risk of flooding in the rivers of Dir, Swat, Chitral, Mansehra, Kohistan, and Kashmir. Some places may be affected from April 27 to 29 due to landslides in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Guliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Meteorological Department has said that wind, hail, and lightning can affect human lives, standing crops, power poles, vehicles, and solar panels. According to the spokesperson of PDMA, strong winds, rain, and hail are likely to occur in a few places in Punjab.
PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia has issued instructions to deputy commissioners across Punjab to remain alert. It should be remembered that during the last 24 hours, the weather was dry in most parts of the country, while it was hot in the southern regions.
In Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Kashmir, and adjacent hilly areas, strong winds, wind, and thundershowers occurred at a few places.
Irfan Ali Kathia said that the concerned departments should be alert to deal with any emergency situation. The district emergency operation centers of all the districts including the provincial control room have also been alerted.
