Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for “28 Years Later”, the highly anticipated third installment in the beloved horror franchise, set to premiere in 2025.
To coincide with the buzz, 28 Days Later—Danny Boyle’s groundbreaking 2002 zombie horror film—will finally be available for digital rental and purchase after years of being stuck in streaming limbo.
On Monday, December 16, Sony unveiled the trailer for 28 Years Later, which reunites Boyle with screenwriter Alex Garland. Meanwhile, fans eager to revisit 28 Days Later ahead of the sequel’s release can look forward to streaming it legally for the first time in years.
According to Fandango, the film will be available on Video On Demand (VOD) starting Wednesday, December 18.
28 Years Later is set for a theatrical release on June 20, 2025. The film features an impressive cast, including Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, and Ralph Fiennes. The original film’s star, Cillian Murphy, also serves as an executive producer on the new project.
Deadline reported that the 28 Years Later trailer had the second-biggest launch for a horror movie trailer ever, amassing 14.6 million views on YouTube at the time of writing. Watch the trailer below:
