One of Netflix’s most popular political drama “The Diplomat” is back today (Thursday) with its long-awaited second season. Although, it does not offer any Halloween frights, it sure is full of suspense.
However, fans may be disappointed to hear that season 2 has been cut to six episodes from eight that we enjoyed in season 1. Whether this is a budget call or a creative call, audiences hope this does not set the trend for future seasons as the show has already been renewed for a third season which was announced two weeks ago ahead of this premiere.
In the official trailer for season 2, Keri Russell’s character, Ambassador Kate Wyler, dives into the investigation of the explosion that closed out season one, leaving her husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) injured. As she deals with the aftermath of her actions, she partners with British Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi) to uncover the truth.
Season two picks up where season one left off: a bombing in the middle of London, Kate’s relentless pursuit of clues, and Hal in a hospital bed trying to mend from his wounds. Of course, we know Hal made it out of the explosion alive and even cracks a joke with Kate; however, the severity of his injuries remains a reminder of the dangers surrounding them. Kate grapples with her evolving emotions for Dennison and the lack of surety in her marriage to Hal.
What time is The Diplomat Season 2 coming out?
