WhatsApp’s new feature to connect users with Facebook

WhatsApp will soon allow users to connect through unique usernames instead of sharing their phone numbers, as Meta introduces a new privacy-focused feature for its messaging platform.

The update will enable users to create unique usernames that can be shared with family, friends and businesses, reducing the need to disclose personal phone numbers.

According to Meta, the feature is designed to enhance user privacy, particularly when joining large group chats or contacting a person or business for the first time.

Meta also said creators, small businesses and organizations will be able to reserve usernames already associated with their Facebook or Instagram accounts.
