WhatsApp is introducing a new automatic text formatting feature in its upcoming update, currently being tested by select beta users with the latest Android beta version 2.24.23.9.
This feature automatically underlines links, helping users easily differentiate them from regular text, according to WABetaInfo.
Moreover, group mentions are becoming more prominent within message bubbles, ensuring that important messages catch users’ attention more effectively.
The update also brings bold and underline formatting to phone numbers, making it easier for users to identify and interact with numbers shared in chats and groups.
Overall, this feature enhances the interactivity of messages by visually highlighting links and phone numbers, similar to how hyperlinks function on the web. Users will quickly recognize which elements in a message are clickable, as underlined text typically indicates interactivity.
The automatic text formatting tool will gradually be rolled out to a wider audience over the next few weeks.
