Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali strongly criticized former captain Wasim Akram for expressing solidarity late during the Pakistan-India tension, as reported by national media.
According to details, posting on the social media site X (Twitter), legendary cricketer Wasim Akram wrote that “we all stand with our armed forces, who responded to the enemy’s aggression.”
He further wrote, “As they say, ‘War happens when dialogue fails,’ so talking and helping resolve conflicts for the betterment of youth across the border will help. Peace is what we all want! Long live Pakistan.”
Wasim Akram’s tweet came at a time when an official ceasefire had already been announced between Pakistan and India, for which he faced heavy criticism.
Former cricketer Basit Ali openly criticized Wasim Akram, saying, “Remaining silent during extremely sensitive moments and then issuing a statement once the situation returns to normal—what kind of bravery is that? Cricketers should raise their voices during the nation’s difficult times, not afterward!”
Wasim Akram is also facing criticism on social media platforms for tweeting in support of the Pakistan Army after a delay.
