Several people have been killed after an armed man belonging to Bohshera and Dandar tribes traded fire over a land dispute in Parachinar.
The country which has already been staggering under economic pressure, is facing yet another jolt as reports of violence between different sects emerged in the Kurram tribal district. The unfortunate incident occurred between July 8 and 9.
What is happening in Parachinar?
According to reports, violence broke out in Boshera village following a dispute over land issues. After that, use of heavy weapons is reported with fatal casualties in Upper Kurram Tribal District, according to a tweet.
Reports claimed that after the fighting, a temporary ceasefire was established through the intervention of local jirga. However, the ceasefire has been brokered only till Monday i.e. today, said reports.
Why is it happening?
As per reports, the unfortunate incident is the result of violence between the Shia-Sunni sects The sectarian violence between Shia and Sunni groups has resulted in the death of over 4,000 people in Pakistan in the last 30-40 years.

As many as 4,000 people are estimated to have been killed by Shia-Sunni sectarian attacks in Pakistan between 1987 and 2007 and since 2008, thousands of Shia have been killed by Sunni extremists according to Human Rights Watch (HRW).
