The West Indies cricket team arrived in Islamabad from Dubai on Monday aboard flight EK-612, marking their first visit to Pakistan in 19 years for a series of matches. The team will play two Test matches and a three-day match during their tour. Strict security measures were in place as the team was transported from the airport to their hotel.
The upcoming two Tests will be part of the ICC’s World Test Championship and will be played in Multan. The first Test is set to begin on January 17, followed by the second one on January 25. Additionally, the tourists will compete in a three-day match at Islamabad Club from January 10 to January 12.
The last Test series between the two teams took place in November 2006, when the West Indies played three matches against Pakistan. Both teams also faced each other in an away series in the UAE in October 2016. While the West Indies has visited Pakistan three times since 2018 for T20I series, this marks their return for Test cricket after a long hiatus.
