The United States military said on Wednesday it launched fresh strikes on Iran as explosions have been reported in Iranian cities along the Strait of Hormuz, including Bushehr, Chabahar, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Jask and Abu Musa Island.
The United States said that the attacks were in response to Tuesday’s assault on three cargo ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The strikes came just hours after President Donald Trump said he believed an interim ceasefire with Iran was “over.”

In a statement on X, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces had begun additional operations to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the strategic waterway.

Iran responded with a second consecutive day of attacks targeting Kuwait and Bahrain, both of which host US military bases. Kuwait’s Defence Ministry said it intercepted incoming missiles and drones, while Qatar briefly issued an elevated security alert before later declaring the situation safe.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) said they targeted US military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain, including bases at Arifjan, Ali Al Salem, Juffair and Sheikh Isa, using missiles and drones. The IRGC warned it would expand attacks to other US bases across the region if Washington launched further strikes.
