The United States and Iran are approaching a framework agreement aimed at ending the conflict, following progress in talks held on Tuesday, according to AXIOS report.
Citing US officials, the report stated that negotiations between the two countries have moved forward, bringing both sides closer to a potential deal. However, officials warned that an agreement is not yet certain due to ongoing differences.
The website added that President Donald Trump’s negotiating team remains actively engaged in discussions and the exchange of draft with the Iranian leadership.
“The U.S. has not formally agreed to an extension of the ceasefire. There is continued engagement between the U.S. and Iran to reach a deal,” a second U.S. official said.
U.S. officials say Trump’s naval blockade — which has cut off Iran’s oil exports — and the country’s deepening economic crisis are increasing pressure on Tehran to reach a deal.
“They’re broke. We know it. And they know we know it,” one U.S. official said.
