According to initial information made available with MM News, PM Shehbaz Sharif had expressed displeasure over ‘slow speed’ at the multi-billion Bhara Kahu Bypass work, which prompted Chief Commissioner Capt (R) Mengal to issue directives of the speedy work, setting completion deadline for March 23.
This led the construction firm to accelerate the pace of the construction work, which apparently resulted in some loop holes and flaws, as a result of which the shuttering of a pillar, associated with the bypass bridge, collapsed on Saturday morning.
People standing nearby rushed to the scene and expressed fears that some workers and passers by might be buried under the rubble.
Hours later, Islamabad police took to Twitter and posted updates, saying two workers who had sustained wounds in the incident succumbed.

The project, when completed, would not only benefit the dwellers of Bhara Kahu and its surroundings but also minimize the woos of the tourists heading towards Murree and Azad Kashmir.
The ever–increasing population of the area with a lot many people travelling to Murree and Azad Kashmir has made Bhara Kahu the point of routine traffic jams and growing congestion creating problems for the travellers in general and the people of the area in particular.
The 5.6 km-long road (including a 1km flyover) starts from Murree Road at Malpur and culminates on Murree Road near the Jugi bus stop from where the flyover begins till the end of the local bazaar towards Murree.
