Two suspected terrorists killed in Sukkur ‘encounter’

SUKKUR: The Sindh Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and other law enforcement agencies have claimed to kill two terrorists in an encounter at Sukkur-Jaffarabad road on Sunday.
The CTD had launched an operation at Sukkur’s Jaffarabad road in the morning targeting a hideout belonging to suspected militants of an outlawed group active in the area, sources in the CTD said.
During the operation terrorists opened fire at the police officials when they were signaled to stop a suspected motorbike at Jaffarabad road, CTD officials said. An exchange of fire also took place between the two sides.
As a result, the terrorist suffered severe bullet injuries. The injured succumbed to their injuries while on the way to a hospital, CTD officials said.
In-charge CTD said the operation had been conducted after a tip-off from an arrested suspect. The two men were experts to make suicide jackets, he claimed. Police recovered material used for making suicide vests, two pistols and a motorcycle, the CTD official said.
The suspected terrorists were involved in multiple terrorist attacks, including the targeted killing of security forces’ officials.
The CTD officials said that they have yet to verify the identity of the suspected terrorists that were killed in the operation via DNA tests and through Nadra’s help. The bodies were shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.
