QUETTA: The polio emergency operation center Pakistan has reported two more polio cases from on Saturday.
According to the health department, polio was confirmed in a 4-year-old child in the Chilton Town area of Quetta while a 15-month-old child was confirmed polio in Bayshore Tehsil of Pishin. The number of polio cases in Balochistan has risen to 23 this year.
The number of polio cases reported in Pakistan so far this year has risen to more than 75, compared to 147 confirmed last year.
Last month, Sindh Irshad, in-charge of the Punjab Anti-Polio Program, said that environmental virus samples had confirmed poliovirus.
He said that environmental samples are taken for poliovirus on the 11th of every month. The anti-polio campaign has been stalled for a long time due to the coronavirus, which has also led to an increase in polio cases.
