LAHORE: Another two coronavirus patients have died today at the hospital, bringing the death toll to 58 in Punjab.
According to details, 80-year-old male patient and 53 years old female patient were declared dead at the Mayo hospital in Lahore.
A number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country rose to 10,513 after 742 new infections were reported during the last 24 hours. On the other hand, as many as 94 patients tested positive for the novel coronavirus in eight different jails of Punjab.
The total number of 59 prisoners were diagnosed with the COVID-19 at camp jail in Lahore, 14 at Sialkot jail, 7 at Gujranwala, 9 at Dera Ghazi Khan, 2 at Bhakkar jail and 1 each from Faisalabad, Kasur, Hafizabad prisons.
The authorities said that reports of 438 of the 527 prisoners tested in Lahore’s camp jail have been received, adding that of them, 59 tested positive for the virus and 379 negative.
Last month, an elderly patient died of the virus at the same hospital due to the medical staff’s alleged carelessness. Moreover, two doctors performing duties at Dera Ghazi Khan’s quarantine facility also tested positive for the deadly virus.
Another doctor, working at the Nawaz Sharif Hospital, Yakki Gate, Lahore, was also tested positive, although reportedly, he got an infection while dealing with patients at his private clinic.
