Two KDA officials killed, one injured in civic center attack

KARACHI: Two land department employees of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) were killed while another injured in a gun attack inside Karachi’s Civic Center.

According to police, unidentified men opened fire inside on the third floor of the Civic Centre building, in which Assistant Director Land of the KDA Gulistan-e-Jauhar Wasim Usmani was killed while KDA employees Muhammad Hafeez and Waseem Raza sustained injuries.

A police spokesperson informed that Waseem Raza later also succumbed to his injures while being shifted to the hospital. “The firing incident happened within the premises of the KDA land department,” he said without elaborating as to who was involved in it.

The motive behind the attack has yet to be ascertained, while a weapon was also recovered from the office and a forensic examination would be carried out to ascertain facts.

The police spokesperson informed that the bodies and injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities. Meanwhile, Rangers and personnel of other law enforcement agencies have reached the spot.
