Cabinet expresses satisfaction over resumption of educational activities

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet today (Tuesday) has expressed satisfaction over the resumption of educational activities across the country, following improvement in the COVID-19 situation.

Addressing a media briefing after the meeting, Information Minister Shibli Faraz has urged the educational institutions to ensure the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The federal minister further informed that the cabinet meeting also reviewed matters pertaining to irregular constructions. “PTI governments in provinces have been directed to prepare master plans of their major cities to ensure planned construction,” he added.

Shibli Faraz said that the government accords priority to the protection of Green Areas. “In this regard, the Cabinet decided not to regularize illegal construction of a prison on a green area in Islamabad,” he remarked.

The Cabinet also ordered to demolish the facility and directed the concerned authorities to launch an inquiry against those who approved it. “The prison will be constructed at an alternate place in Islamabad,” he added.

The Federal Cabinet also considered an amendment in the Electoral Act to make it binding on the elected members to take oath of their office within 60 to 90 days after the elections.
