ISLAMABAD: Turkey has facilitated Pakistan by donating protective gear in efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the spokesman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the Turkish Airlines carrying Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)s arrived in Islamabad in the morning from Turkey.
The protective equipment includes 20,000 N-95 masks and 18,500 protective gowns. Earlier this month, Turkey had sent medical supplies to nearly 30 nations to support efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The supplies sent by Turkey included protective equipment and sanitisers. The virus was first detected in China late last year. However, China had also sent protective gear and testing kits to Pakistan to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Pakistan received at least 2 tonnes of masks, test kits, ventilators, medical protective clothes worth Rs67 million from China. Last week, the team of Chinese doctors, that arrived in the country on a two-week visit left for China.
A Chinese team during their stay also met doctors in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Karachi, Lahore. Since March, China has been providing medical supplies to Pakistan including N-95 masks, protective suits, testing kits, medical masks, ventilators, thermometers, thermal scanners, gloves, goggles, litres of sanitizers and non-woven fabric for making protective suits.
