KARACHI: Miscreants from the land mafia have occupied a house belonging to the transgender community who have protested over the injustice.
The incident took place within the limits of Sir Syed police station in North Karachi. According to reports, several members of the trans community reached the house to gain control of the premises. However, they were severely tortured by the occupiers. As a result, five transgender were severely injured in the incident and have been shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
Anita Rao, executive director of Jaya Foundation, said the house was occupied after the death of their guru (leader). She said the occupiers attacked the trans genders when they went to vacate the house.
The trans genders called police who reached the spot and gained control of the situation. Police said a case has been registered against the accused who will be arrested soon.
On the other hand, police arrested the suspect who shot twice and severely injured a doctor during a robbery attempt at a clinic. Police launched an operation and also recovered the snatched mobile phone from his possession.
The incident took place within the limits of SITE Super Highway police station where three suspects shot and injured a doctor for resisting a robbery bid at a clinic. The suspects snatched his mobile phone and fled from the scene.
A case of the incident was registered under the supervision of SSP Investigation-1 East Altaf Hussain, SIO SITE Super Highway Inspector Haji Imtiaz, Investigation office Irshad Chauhan and his team.
Police eventually conducted an operation and arrested a suspect identified as Bilal. The stolen mobile phone was recovered on the identification of the accused. During interrogation, the suspect revealed involvement in several incidents of street crime. Police said that further investigation is underway.
