KARACHI: With the connivance of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), traffic police have established an illegal check post in Mehmoodabad ara of the metropolis.
According to sources, traffic police with the connivance of KMC set up an illegal check post, which creates severe difficulties for locals in Mahmoodabad, by violating the orders of the Supreme Court against encroachments.
As per the information received by MM News, it has been revealed that an illegal check post has been established near a bridge within the limits of Baloch Colony Police Station.
When contacted by MM News, Baloch Colony Police said, “Traffic police is also our part so we cannot take any action against the construction of this illegal check post.”
On the other hand, the residents of the area said that their legal houses have been demolished under the guise of encroachments, however, no one has taken action against this illegal traffic check post.
They said for Karachi tackling encroachment has become a nightmare for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation as despite the removal of squatting they end up at the same place with the same people the next day due to illegal practices by the officials.
“Several areal and almost all of the footpaths of the area of the roads are encroached by pushcart men and other vendors despite court orders,” the resident said.
Residents of the area have appealed to the Supreme Court to take action against the traffic police and KMC for violating the orders.
