Torrential rains continued to batter Upper Dir in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, triggering flash floods in streams and nullahs and causing widespread disruption across the district.
According to Rescue 1122, a flash flood near Inkar Madrasa washed over the main highway, forcing its complete closure to all traffic. The road blockage led to long queues of vehicles, leaving commuters and tourists stranded at several locations.
Rescue officials said the heavy rainfall also washed away a link bridge, while roads in several areas were damaged or swept away by floodwaters, severely disrupting transportation and access.
Rescue sources added that a vehicle was swept away by a flooded seasonal stream during the surge. However, no casualties have been reported so far.
Rescue 1122 teams are carrying out relief operations and monitoring the situation in the affected areas. Authorities have advised residents and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from rivers, streams and flood-prone areas until conditions improve.
