RAWALPINDI: Banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has announced a long march towards Islamabad tomorrow.
Following the announcement, heavy contingents of Punjab police have been deployed at Faizabad Interchange in Islamabad on the orders of the Home Department in view of possible protests. CPO Rawalpindi, Ahsan Younis and other police officers visited various areas of Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, police have been put on high alert amid protests of the TLP.
Also, TLP supporters blocked the Chowk Yatim Khana for the last two days. The authorities have chalked out alternative traffic routes. Authorities have also shut down mobile signals in a number of areas in the provincial capital to control the situation.
As per the orders of the Interior Ministry, the telecommunication authority has shut down the internet service in Lahore due to the deadline given by TLP ends for government today.

Moreover, in April an agreement was reached between the TLP and the government on other issues, including the release of Allama Saad Rizvi, which has not yet been implemented. According to TLP spokesperson, instead of abiding by the agreement, the government repeatedly violated it, which was supposed to be completed in three days. They have been protesting peacefully for 15 days but no response has been received yet.
