MIRANSHAH: At least three people were killed and five others were injured after a suspected suicide bomber blew himself up in North Waziristan’s Miranshah town.
According to government sources, most of the casualties were pedestrians in the area.
The injured and the dead were shifted to DHQ Miranshah Hospital and a cordon was established around the blast site by security officials. An investigation has been initiated by law enforcement personnel.
A search operation was also launched in the area after the attack.
The suspected attacker was riding a motorcycle and there are conflicting reports regarding the target,
Last month, four people, including a policeman and a woman and her son, died while more than two dozen others sustained injuries in a powerful blast in Quetta’s Baleli area that targeted a police patrol, senior police officials said. The attack was claimed by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Earlier, the TTP said that they have called off a ceasefire agreement with the federal government in June and ordered its militants to stage terrorist attacks across the country.
