NEW YORK: Experts have said that a coronavirus infection can be detected early through three signs associated with your eyes.
A report in BMJ Opthalmology lists three signs you should look for that may indicate the early stages of infection with the Coronavirus. The main symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough, and loss of sense of taste or smell.
Other signs have been reported by paramedics around the world including skin rashes and an upset stomach. The study was conducted by Anglia Ruskin University, examining data from 83 patients with coronavirus.
Researchers discovered that 18 percent of patients reported sensitivity to light known as photophobia while 17 percent had itchy eyes and 16 percent had eye inflammation, according to the report.

Several patients report having eye problems within two weeks of other COVID-19 symptoms, Health officials believe that conjunctivitis develops in about one to three percent of coronavirus patients.
Red eyes are the “most important” sign of patients contracting COVID-19, said Chelsea Earnest, a nurse at the Life Care Center in Washington. She explained, “They have, like sensitive eyes. The white part of the eye is not red. It looks like the red eyeshadow on the outside of their eyes.”
