Three dacoits killed in Rawalpindi police encounter

Karachi police identify gang behind killing of additional SHO
RAWALPINDI: Police on Wednesday killed three alleged dacoits, including their ring leader, during an encounter within the limits of New Airport Police station in Rawalpindi.
According to Police spokesman, on a tip-off, about the inter-provincial gang of dacoits was hiding in a house near the Khanna bridge area of Sadiqabad, a police party conducted a raid.
The police official further said during an hour-long operation one of the robbers’ accomplice Bakhti Rehman, a resident of Mardan got injured while three others escaped away on motorcycles.
He said that the members of the notorious gang including their ring leader was chased and intercepted in New Airport in Attock and killed them in a brief encounter.
According to district Police officer Khalid Hamdani, the gang was wanted in two different house robberies in the Burhan area of Hassanabdal Police station.
He said that the gang also shot and injured a man during a robbery. He said that gang was involved in dozens of robberies and other crimes in Attock and Rawalpindi.
He said that the deceased were identified as Shah Faisal a resident of Mardan, Anwar Taj a resident of Swabi and Luqman Gul – a resident of Mardan. He said that the injured was identified as Bakhati Rehman. The bodies were shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.
