Threats and protests spark safety concerns for Bollywood’s Aamir Khan

Tension around Bollywood star Aamir Khan escalated on reports of fresh protests, inflammatory public statements, and allegations that have triggered widespread concern over his personal safety.

Following Aamir Khan’s third marriage, activists associated with extremist Hindu organizations reportedly staged protests accusing the actor of allegedly following a pattern of marrying women from Hindu families. According to accounts in Indian media, demonstrators also burned Aamir Khan’s effigy and raised “strong slogans” targeting him during the protest.

The situation drew further attention after Maharashtra Minister Nitish Rane reportedly criticized Aamir Khan’s personal life and marriages, amplifying the controversy beyond street demonstrations into political rhetoric.

While protests continued, extremist religious leader Jagadguru Paramhansa Acharya reportedly announced a reward of 5 crore Indian rupees for the person who kills Aamir Khan. Media reports say Acharya’s remarks included claims directed at Aamir Khan’s marriages to Hindu women, presented in a provocative manner that has since led to backlash on social media and in other public circles.

Acharya, according to the reports, also framed the offer by repeating allegations tied to Aamir Khan’s personal relationships, while claiming he would cover his own legal expenses. The combination of the “reward” statement and the accusations has intensified debate over whether the remarks amount to incitement and what legal and administrative steps—if any—are being taken.

So far, there has been no official response from Aamir Khan or his team addressing these claims. It is also unclear whether Indian police have initiated any legal action in connection with the statement reported to have been made by Acharya.

The developments come after Aamir Khan married his long-time friend Gauri Spratt on July 5 in a reportedly simple ceremony held at his residence. Earlier, he had also been married to Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao .

In India, Aamir Khan has previously faced threats and backlash linked to political and religious controversies. However, the current controversy—especially statements describing a reward for violence—has drawn renewed attention and raised serious questions about safety and accountability.
