The top 10 fat-burning foods

If you want to lose the fat from your body, then starving yourself won’t do any good. Rather, eating properly will help you lose fat. That does not mean that eating particular items will just cause your fat to fall off your body. No, but there are certain food items that will help you to burn off those excess fats faster.

Listed below are 10 such food that can burn fat.

1. Protein

Eating food that is rich in protein ensures fat loss but at the same time preserves muscle mass. Muscle mass and fat both weigh the same but muscles take up less space than fat does. This means that if you eat a lot of protein, you will have the same mass but will look leaner. Also, maintaining a high protein diet will keep you from carving extra food.

2. Green Tea

Drinking green tea is greatly beneficial if you are looking to keep an eye on that waistline. It contains a compound called the Epigallocatechin gallate, or EGCG which prevents your body from storing fat. However, drinking one cup a day won’t do any good. You need to be a regular green tea drinker.

3. Grapefruit

This particular item does not burn fat as you would expect, but it controls the fat inside your body. According to research done at the University of Arizona in Tucson, eating grapefruit three times daily for six weeks will improve blood pressure and stabilize the concentration of lipids or fat in your blood.

4. Dairy Products

Consuming dairy products won’t help you burn excess fat but if you consume the right amount then it does help you shed the extra fat pounds over time. Dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese are helpful when it comes to maintaining a certain level of fat.

5. Cinnamon

Probably the best way to burn fat is by adding cinnamon to your diet. When you eat, your body will release a hormone called insulin. This insulin is known to cause the cells in your body to store the extra fat. However, the properties of cinnamon are such that they counter the effects of insulin thereby not allowing you to store fat.

6. Hot Peppers

When you eat a spicy product like chili, the calorie-burning rate in your body increases by 8 percent. Hot peppers contain an element called capsaicin which raises the internal temperature of your body. This ensures you burn calories faster during and after a meal. It is also known to reduce your appetite thereby making you skip the dessert.

7. Eggs

Eggs are a good source of protein. As explained earlier, proteins help you to burn off the fat. Not just that, whole eggs are rich in Vitamin B which contain a substance called choline. The choline helps your body to use fat instead of storing it. As a result, you use fat as a form of energy instead of storing it and becoming bulkier.

8. Ginger

Ginger is known for counteracting the effects of a diet that is high in fat. According to a study published in 2014, researchers fed rats around 25 milligrams to 75 milligrams of gingerol. Gingerol is the active compound found inside ginger. The rats were fed for 30 days daily. After the research period, it was noticed that the rats that were fed ginger contained less level of fat inside their blood compared to the rats who did not have ginger.

9. Coffee

One of the most regularly taken items that are very good in terms of burning fat is coffee. We drink coffee almost every day but most of the time we tend to add milk and sugar to it. Thereby we are being deprived of coffee’s fat-burning abilities. If you drink coffee as it normally is, that is simple regular black coffee then the caffeine will help you burn fat. Caffeine is well known for its ability to boost your metabolism and thereby burn calories faster. It works very well as a pre-workout supplement for people who work out.

10. Pistachio Nuts

Pistachio nuts, when consumed at a controlled level can help you to control the fat in your blood. It provides a good alternative as an evening snack compared to other sugary items like pretzels.
