BANGKOK: Thai National Police Chief Gen. Chakthip Chaichinda on Sunday confirmed the shooter Jakrapanth Thomma who shoots more than 20 people at a shopping mall in Nakhon Ratchasima had been killed.
Talking to media the police official said the operation against the shooter finished, while the criminal was also gunned down.
He added that Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha would arrive in Nakhon Ratchasima soon. On Saturday, an armed man identified as Jakrapanth Thomma a soldier) carried out a mass shooting at the Terminal 21 shopping mall in the Thai city of Nakhon Ratchasima.
As a result, more than 20 people killed and injured dozens more in a gun rampage. Thailand’s Health Ministry said at least 63 people were injured in the shooting.
Meanwhile, Thai Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed that 21 people were killed by the armed man, including one special forces policeman.
Two other special forces servicemen were injured, the minister added. However, Thairath TV reported on Sunday citing police sources that a total of 25 people were killed by the criminal.
