LAHORE: A man allegedly shot and killed his wife and three members of her family before taking his own life in the Barkat Colony area of Chohang, Lahore, police said on Tuesday.
According to the police, the suspect, identified as Imran Shaukat, had forcibly married Samia Bibi around six months ago. However, Samia had been living at her parents’ home.
The accused reportedly arrived at his in-laws’ residence in the morning and demanded that his wife return with him.
During the ensuing confrontation, Imran allegedly opened fire, killing Samia Bibi on the spot. When family members resisted, he also shot and killed her father, Ali Khan; her 21-year-old brother, Zeeshan; and her mother, Shumaila, police said.
After the incident, the suspect allegedly shot himself and died by suicide.
Following the incident, police teams reached the scene and began collecting evidence.
The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killings is under way.
