SRINAGAR, INDIAN-OCCUPIED KASHMIR: A large number of women protesters were arrested including the sister and daughter of former chief minister of Occupied Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah.
The Kashmiri women had gathered at the Pratap Park near Lal Chowk in Srinagar to initiate an anti-India protest. The women were protesting against the elimination of Kashmir’s special status when police arrived at the site and arrested many protesters.
Reports also revealed that Farooq Abdullah’s sister Suraiya and daughter Safia along with the wife of former chief justice of IOK Hawa Bashir are among the arrested women.
Apart from them, many leading academicians and women activists protested in Srinagar. Several notable people including Hurriyat leaders and national conference leader are either under house arrest or in jails since 5th August.
