KARACHI: All schools, colleges, and universities in Sindh will be closed from February 6th to 9th due to the upcoming general elections, Provincial Education department said on Thursday.
The election is scheduled for February 8.
Sindh government already has announced public holiday on 5th February on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day
“Regular school timings will be observed later on,” the notice said.
On Wednesday, the Interim Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, announced four days of vacation for all the educational institutes in the province.
The Caretaker CM of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, announced that the Provincial Cabinet has approved that all public and private sector schools, colleges, and universities in Punjab will be closed from February 6 to February 9 for the general elections.
Earlier, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned an emergency meeting today (Thursday) amid a worsening law and order situation in the country ahead of the general election of 2024.
The electoral watchdog has also invited officials of the intelligence agencies to participate in the emergency meeting.
The development comes after a series of terrorist attacks on political gatherings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
