Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the Peoples Bus Service will begin operating between Sukkur and Shikarpur from next week.
The decision was made during a meeting of the provincial Transport and Mass Transit Department chaired by Sharjeel Memon, where several measures were discussed to improve public transport facilities.
According to a spokesperson, plans are under consideration to enhance travel facilities for citizens, including the introduction of new routes and special initiatives for women.
It was also proposed that ceremonies for launching the Sukkur–Shikarpur bus service and distributing pink scooters to women in Sukkur and Hyderabad will be held soon.
Additionally, the government has decided to procure electric (EV), hybrid and double-decker buses in the next financial year, while agreeing to expand the transport network across Sindh, including Karachi.
Sharjeel Memon further stated that special planning is underway for Hyderabad, with routes from Hyder Chowk to Kohsar and Hyderabad to Tando Allahyar expected to be launched soon.
He added that more buses will be added to the transport system in the upcoming fiscal year, and services will be introduced in phases across various districts.
He confirmed that the Peoples Bus Service on the Sukkur–Shikarpur route will be formally launched next week, while formalities related to EV taxi services are expected to be completed by the end of this month.
