KARACHI: Sindh health authorities have reported 262 new COVID-19 and one more patient succumbed to the pandemic in the province on Saturday.
Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah said that one more patient of COVID-19 lost life lifting the death toll to 4,479 that constituted a 1.6 percent death rate. CM Murad said 10,443 samples were tested and of them, 262 were diagnosed with Covid-19 that constituted 2.5 percent of the current detection rate.
The chief minister said that 3,203,643 tests have been conducted so far against which 263,057 cases were diagnosed, of the 96.4 percent or 253,584 patients have recovered.
Currently, 4,994 patients were under treatment, of the 4,708 were in home isolation, seven at isolation centers and 279 at different hospitals, he informed, adding that the condition of 256 patients was stated to be critical, including 40 who were shifted to ventilators.
According to the chief minister, out of 262 new cases, 122 have been detected from Karachi, including 63 from district East, 15 of district South, 14 in West, 12 from Central and 9 each of Malir and Korangi districts.
Hyderabad has 24 new cases, Badin 12, Khairpur and Ghotki 8 each, Larkana 7, Sujawal 6, Thatta and Umerkot 5 each, Qamber, Tando Allahyar and Tando Muhammad Khan 4 each, Jamshoro, Matiari and Mirpurkhas 3 each, Sukkur 2, Shaheed Benazirabad and Shikarpur one each.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan has reported as many as 3,876 new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s COVID-19 tally to 623,135.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the country’s death toll climbed to 13,799 after 42 people succumbed to the deadly disease during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 1,446 patients recovered from the deadly disease in a day taking the total recoveries to 579,760. The monitoring body further informed that the total active COVID-19 cases across the country were reported to be 29,576.
The positivity ratio was recorded at 9.46 percent during the past day. A total of 40,946 tests were conducted across the country during this period. Almost 2,122 patients are in critical condition across the country.
