KARACHI: The Sindh government today (Tuesday) has banned all the religious gatherings amid the holy month of Ramazan including Yaum-e-Ali and Mehfil-e-Shabeenas.
The provincial Home Department issued a notification in this regard, which stated that all religious gatherings which are not ‘farz’ shall not be held.
According to the notification, “All religious activities during the holy month of Raman with the gathering of people like Majalis & Jaloos for Shadat-e-Imam Ali (AS), Religious Rallies/Gatherings & Mehfil-e-Shabeenas shall not be held.”
The decision has been taken by the provincial government in order to encourage social distancing to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
So far, coronavirus has claimed lives of more than 300 people across Pakistan and has affected more than 14,500 people. Sindh remains the second most affected province from the novel coronavirus with more than 5,200 cases.
In Ramadan, thousands take part in processions and gatherings for Yaum-e-Ali. Rallies to salute Hazrat Ali (RA) on the day of his martyrdom are taken out across the country.
